Die alte Dame ist schrill und lebenslustig. Hinreißend komisch, wie sie sich als Walküre verkleidet in ihrem Verdi-Club in einem Tableau vivant vor den Omis und Opis der New Yorker High Society produziert. Meryl Streep ist diese alte Dame, und als sie erst nach einem Drittel von Stephen Frears überwältigender Menschen- und Kunststudie "Florence Foster Jenkins" erstmals singt, überraschen ihre schrillschönschrägen Töne niemanden mehr.

Jacky BornetCette Florence est loin d’avoir autant de coffre que Marguerite, mais elle inspire à Frears une fresque sentimentale bien tenue et agrémentée à bon escient d’élans comiques donnant à Simon Helberg, dans le rôle du pianiste, l’occasion d’éclipser et Meryl Streep et Hugh Grant – ce qui n’est pas peu dire.
