Middle-aged Sue works in a library. Her teenage son Daniel eats crisps and listens to Metallica. Daniel had planned to spend the summer with his father in Florida. But when they cancel his trip at the last minute, Sue and Daniel suddenly face the prospect of six long weeks together. Over the course of the summer, an epic war of wills rages in the unassuming battleground of their suburban home as Sue and Daniel reckon with private tragedies – and pursue their personal passions.
Dem bisher vor allem als Schauspieler und Komiker bekannten Simon Bird ist ein amüsanter Spielfilmerstling gelungen, mit herrlich schrulligen Dialogen und ProtagonistInnen (in der Hauptrolle: Nick Caves Sohn Earl mit fettig-strähniger Frise). Ein liebevoller Ausflug in den britischen Sommer.
