From imaginative to fantastic

Film of the day

Swiss Army Man
Kwan & Scheinert, 2016 c6.9

This is the moment to discover or rediscover the delightfully surreal first feature from the American directing team Scheinert & Kwan, whose follow-up Everything Everywhere All at Once has just racked up 11 Oscar nominations.

It is set on a deserted island where shipwrecked Hank has already finished with his life when he is distracted by a strange flotsam and jetsam: the bloated corpse of Manny turns out to be an (in)dead jack-of-all-trades that is great for boating, hunting, starting fires and even communicating. The beginning of a wonderful friendship.
