A Sherpa family is approached by a group of mountaineers to lead a trek across the sacred mountain of Kumbhakarna in Nepal and faces a dilemma. The father wants to earn the money necessary for his son's education. But the mother is against climbing the body of God. In order to make her son's dream of becoming a doctor possible, she finally agrees to lead the three foreigners up the mountain.
Bergsteigerfilme konzentrierten sich in der Vergangenheit meist auf westliche Expeditionen auf den Everest. Dieser Dokumentarfilm hingegen widmet sich dem Leben einer nepalesischen Familie, deren Vater als Sherpa arbeitet. Sie sind hin- und hergerissen zwischen der Abhängigkeit von Expeditionen und Emanzipation, um ihrem Sohn ein anderes Leben zu ermöglichen. Eine einfühlende Geschichte vor dem kolossalem Hintergrund des heiligen Bergs Kumbhakarna.
